More detail is not always better
When I first started- I always thought more detail, made better art. Over my career I have learned that is simply not true. What makes a good illustration, is good lighting, composition and colour. Sometimes “more” – just pulls your eye from where you want them to focus. Don’t get me wrong, detail is not a bad thing, it just needs to be used right.
The original started back in 2016. Layout was not my strong suit back in the day, so I used a 3D program to help me get my bearings- I still got stuck, so I took a break and came back to it. I still like the composition of the 3rd image, (aside from random 3D man) who knows, maybe Ill come back to it some day and play with a version of that.
Eventually I landed on Image 6- which has been sitting on my website for the last few years. But every time I looked at it – my eye couldnt find a place to rest, and it needed more depth.
So that brings me to -today. I thought I would share my progress over many years – and where we have landed today.
Diablo was one of my favourite games so I decided to do some fan art of one of my favourite story lines. Anyone who follows me, knows I love to push myself and try new styles!
